mini-boss in a foreign land: akane, the iron chef

i've cooked a few times since i got here, and i'm kinda enjoying it. :)

i've heeded rambling jester's advice, and tried some recipes in pinoycook.net. thundercat also gave me an easy-to-follow recipe for sinigang (which i intend to perfect). so far, i was able to cook the following:

  • menudo --> yummy
  • sinigang na beef ribs --> better if we had long green chilis and more sinigang mix
  • bistek tagalog --> took so long to cook
  • sinigang na pork spare ribs --> overcooked the veggies
for my next "experiment", i will try soy gin pork. according to the website, it's "very simple, yet very tasty". also, i figured that if my friends do not know how it should taste like, they're less likely to complain. ;)

Here's another simple recipe.

1. Cook pasta (spaghetti or whatever you fancy)
2. Fry chopped ham (the one with more fat, the better) on a drizzle of light olive oil (if you are in for a fat overload, use butter)
3. Place cooked ham on plate and cover with pasta.
4. Fry (or pouch, if you like) an egg sunny-side up. Here you must use butter and don't overcook the yolk.
5. Put egg and melted butter on pasta.
6. Add parmesan cheese. Serve.

One egg per plate. It is easy and yummy! :D
